Weekends away - advice for walkers

In the past, our members have hosted a variety of weekends away across the UK and abroad.

Many are suitable for a range of walk grades; however, please take a look at our walking info or check with the weekend away organiser if you are unsure. We would advise participants to try several of our day walks before they join a weekend so they can judge walk grades, pace etc.

You must be a member of the Metropolitan Walkers to join one of our weekends away!

Accommodation & Transport

Most of our weekends away involve booking your own accommodation and transport, so that you can stay somewhere at a suitable price for you. If you wanted to organise to share accommodation with someone else, please post something on the facebook group created specifically for the weekend away or the Metropolitan Walkers facebook group if the former is unavailable.

Occasionally, a weekend away will have specific accommodation that you can book onto, such as a YHA hostel. If this is the case, you may be asked to pay a deposit and share a room with other members of the same sex.

Most walks on a weekend away can be reached by public transport; however, there may be occasions where the walk leader arranges private transport (e.g. a minibus or coach) so we can explore less accessible locations. If this is the case, you may be asked to pay a deposit.

Most weekends away don't require any payments, but If you are asked to pay a deposit towards shared accommodation or transport it will need to be paid into the Metropolitan Walkers bank account.

When making a payment, please use your name as reference.

Account name: RCN 1093577 Metropolitan Walkers

The bank account can make a small profit. Deposits at the point of signing up are generally non-refundable, after the trip if funds are available we shall try to repay all or some of the deposit.
