Hello All,
As introduced in the Newsletter this Forum is set up to discuss Footpaths issues and thoughts on how we can improve access around the inner London area.
You may not have known that urban pathways do not fall under the jurisdiction of the Highways Authorities (I certainly didn't before I joined the committee!). So these need individual involvement to encourage the relevant borough council to upkeep and maintain them.
Essentially when someone sends in a complaint for a pathway issue within the inner London area that would come to the Inner London area committee for resolution.
This would usually be reported using the report a problem link but be related to an urban pathway in London rather than a public pathway outside of the M25 area. It could be say a local short-cut one takes to get to the tube daily or a path taken behind a building in London to get to the park.
I will from time to time post any such issues that are borough to my attention to find out if any of the Met Walker members are impacted by these reported disruptions. Essentially to have more details than the complaints form would provide and an opportunity for feedback on the issue. These additional details can then help us either to inform the local Borough or request support from other London area groups.
Also, I would like to encourage you all use this forum to open up discussions on your individual issues on footpaths.
Look forward to hearing from you all.
Cheers,
Naz. |
